CBD and fluoxetine both block the same liver enzyme, so each can increase levels of the other, raising risk of side effects from both.
Both CBD and fluoxetine inhibit CYP2D6. CBD also inhibits CYP3A4. This bidirectional inhibition can raise levels of both.
Use caution. Start CBD at very low doses. Fluoxetine has a long half-life so effects may persist. Watch for serotonin syndrome symptoms.
Take Fluoxetine at the same time each day as prescribed. CBD Oil can be taken at any convenient time — morning with breakfast is most common. Some botanicals (St. John's Wort especially) have serotonergic activity and must NOT be combined with SSRIs. If you notice increased drowsiness or agitation, shift the botanical to a different time or discuss discontinuation with your prescriber.
